JULIA REED'S NEW ORLEANS
...Holy roller
My friend Julia Reed - the accomplished chronicler of politics, food and Southern culture - was a great cheerleader for my brand of entertaining. I am always asking myself, “WWJD?” She was an elegant paragon of intuitive great taste, wicked wit, and hospitality - not to mention a party on wheels - with immense depth. This book is a small and inspiring taste of her contribution to the art of words and entertaining. This is her love letter to New Orleans. Held in a variety of venues, from courtyards to gracious interior spaces, the gatherings' menus include such dishes as grillades (my college hangover cure), grits, and seafood gumbo, and cocktails ranging from the traditional Sazerac to a Satsuma Margarita. Featured are an elegant holiday dinner, a crawfish boil, and a lunch under the live oaks. All are presented in luscious photographs and include tips on setting tables, arranging flowers, and crafting playlists to create a festive mood. 224 pages. 10.32"l x 8.3"w
